Rowe's Bakery started trading in 1949 as a single shop in Falmouth. It was founded by Bill Rowe with a partner shortly after leaving the RAF. The business grew steadily in the early years with two additional shops and a larger separate bakery. This pace accelerated after Bill's wife Phyllis became active in the retail sales following their marriage in 1963. Several new shops were acquired and in 1976 the production operations moved to their present location in Penryn near Falmouth.
The business has gone from strength to strength and produces the traditional Cornish Saffron Cake which is synonymous with Cornwall.
Eat it on its own with butter, with Cornish Strawberry Jam and Clotted Cream or delicious hot and toasted.
